When politics meets practice: CDU candidate Renner visits Jeremias
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, we were able to welcome the CDU state parliament candidate Andreas Renner to our company in Birkenfeld. Mr. Renner is running for office in the Pforzheim constituency and visited us to personally get an idea of the current economic conditions, challenges and prospects locally.
The focus of the visit was an open and constructive conversation with our managing partners Guido & Mark Jeremias on the situation of manufacturing companies and especially the food industry.
What moves us – our topics in conversation
1. Shortage of workers and skilled workers, high wage costs and lack of incentives to work
The shortage of workers and skilled workers poses major challenges for many companies. At the same time, wage costs are rising, while there is often a lack of incentive to take up or expand employment. For us, the following applies more than ever: performance must be worth it again. Energy-intensive industries like ours in particular also feel that Germany is losing competitiveness. This means that manufacturers are increasingly relocating production to other European countries.
2. Strong regional manufacturers preserved
Systemic relevance of the food industry: Regional pasta manufacturers like us are not just producers – we secure supplies, jobs and local added value. In times of crisis, it becomes clear what regional supply chains are worth.
3. More planning security – especially when it comes to energy
Companies need reliable framework conditions in order to be able to invest and plan for the long term. This applies in all areas, but especially when it comes to energy costs and energy policy.
4. Reduce bureaucracy
We want leaner processes. Administrative expenses cost time and money that we would rather invest in the product, in our employees and in supporting our customers.
5. Anchor healthy eating more firmly in daycare centers and schools
Nutrition education: Awareness of healthy eating should arise in daycare and school. This is of course particularly important to us as pasta producers.
6. Promote a culture of togetherness
From our point of view, it is equally important that young people in daycare and school experience and practice community, mutual respect and social interaction again.
We would like to thank Mr. Renner for his visit and the open exchange. The direct dialogue between politics and business is important in order to make the perspectives of medium-sized companies and manufacturing companies from the region visible.
Regardless of the election outcome: direct dialogue between companies and politicians is important – and we will continue to seek it.
